Lords of Chaos Trailer Breakdown

January 27, 2019 by Jan F. Lindsø Leave a Comment

A week ago the trailer for the Lords of Chaos film was released, and it has been heavily discussed online. The book with the same name by Didrik Søderlind and Michael Moynihan which the film is based upon also had its controversies after its release in 1997.

I’m not going to discuss the reliability of the story in the plot, but the byline of the movies says it’s “based on truth and lies”. Something which I find fitting since a lot of the narrative back then was just that; based on truth and lies. What struck me though was the authenticity of some of the scenes in the trailer. I quickly recognized some well-known motives throughout the trailer.

Let’s start with this famous promo shot of Euronymous and Necrobutcher. First the original, then from Lords of Chaos.

And this picture of Dead, Hellhammer, Euronymous, and Necrobutcher from backstage at one of their early shows. First the original, then from Lords of Chaos.

The next picture of the early Mayhem lineup clearly inspired a scene in the trailer.

The next picture is a screenshot from an old low quality rehearsal video of Mayhem which clearly was used as a reference for the rehearsal room that is shown in the trailer.

These are just some of the references I found in the trailer. Just from watching the trailer I think they did a good job in reproducing the visuals from the time some of these events happened.

As several scenes from the movie was recorded in Norway, they even used a real Norwegian Stave Church. As a bonus fact from the trailer, this screenshot shows Gol Stave Church on Bygdøy in Oslo. It is most likely being used for depicting Fantoft Stave Church.

The movie will be released February 8, 2019. Let us know what you think about the trailer in the comment section.

Never again

July 22, 2016 by Line Evensen Leave a Comment

Today is a day of mourning here in Norway.

It’s been 5 years since our government quarter was bombed. 5 years since the Utøya massacre, where a right-wing extremist executed 69 people – most of them teenagers – at the Norwegian Labour party’s summer camp for youths. It’s our 9/11. It is almost impossible to imagine the horror these youths and children experienced, trapped on an island with a terrorist and his semi-automatic weapons and expandable ammunition. He laughed as he walked around, shouting “you are going to die today, marxists!”. They had nowhere to hide.

77 people died that day. Hundreds were injured and traumatized. And the terrorist was one of us.

Today Utøya is a memorial and a center for learning about what happened there on 22nd July 2011. The Labour youth party still arranges summer camps on the tiny island, shaped as a heart.

I’m writing this as I’m listening to Harakiri for the Sky and their heartbreaking song ’69 Dead Birds for Utøya’. You should to.

Is it true, that we are nothing but handprints on a misty pane?
How can we fall asleep while the world is still burning?
How shall I sleep, when I carry the weight of the world on my shoulders?
How shall I sleep?
How shall I sleep?

Everytime you think the most stupefying incident in this world already happened,
there comes one more.

If you want to learn more about what happened, I recommend reading these:

Lynch: The rumors are not what they seem. It’s happening!

May 16, 2015 by Line Evensen Leave a Comment

Some time ago we delivered the news that David Lynch would not be directing the Twin Peaks comeback in 2016.

But just now, David Lynch has tweeted this:

Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem ….. It is !!! Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network

— David Lynch (@DAVID_LYNCH) May 16, 2015

Oh happy day! This is awesome news indeed.

Lynch will not be directing Twin Peaks

April 6, 2015 by Jan F. Lindsø Leave a Comment

Earlier last year the Blu-ray box set Twin Peaks: The Entire Mystere was released. After hints and speculations, Showtime announced that Twin Peaks would be returning in 2016 with 9 new episodes.

This trailer was released with the announcement:

According to Rolling Stones, Lynch was planning to direct all the episodes. But now it seems like this won’t be happening after all. Today we got the devastating news, announced by David Lynch himself:

Dear Facebook Friends, Showtime did not pull the plug on Twin Peaks. After 1 year and 4 months of negotiations, I left because not enough money was offered to do the script the way I felt it needed to be done. This weekend I started to call actors to let them know I would not be directing. Twin Peaks may still be very much alive at Showtime. I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.

Based on the announced it might seem that the show might go as planned, but without David Lynch, who actually is considered the mind behind the Twin Peaks universe.

I love the world of Twin Peaks and wish things could have worked out differently.

UPDATE: The actors of Twin Peaks has joined forces and created a video where they tell us what Twin Peaks without David Lynch is. You can see it below:

The book, which was originally released in his native language polish back in 2012, was called ‘Spowiedź Heretyka. Sacrum Profanum’, and became a bestseller. We’re pretty sure it will repeat the bestselling now that it will be available in english. The biography contains all about Nergal’s life, including love life, musical career, religious views, and his battle against life threathening cancer.

The zombie post-apocalypse of The Walking Dead continues

August 23, 2014 by Jan F. Lindsø Leave a Comment

This may contain some minor spoilers if you haven’t seen season 4.

Yes, there will be zombies in season 5 as well. Hideous ones.

Yes, there will be zombies in season 5 as well. Hideous ones.

Last year when AMC announced that The Walking Dead was renewed for a 5th season, we could not do anything else than prepare for a long and painful wait for the continuance of the epic zombie apocalypse. Since its debut in 2010, The Walking Dead has done what no one would’ve dreamed of. A zombie series becoming one of the most popular TV-series. The mid season premiere of season 4 had amazingly 15.8 million viewers, and continued to be the number one show on television among adults between 18 and 49. “Thanks to the fans, who have been so supportive of this show in so many ways. We share your passion for this world,” said Charlie Collier, AMC president, back then when he was asked about the high rankings.

From the forth season we remember The Governor and his followers attacking the prison, where Rick and the rest of the group had been residing. Fences were destroyed, and buildings were blown to pieces. In the last half of the season we followed the survivors on their way towards Terminus, the so-called sanctuary. The last we remember was Rick and his group learning that Termius was nothing but a trap. How will they get away? And will they finally get to Washington to find the cure? We simply can’t wait to see what happens next, when episode 1 of season 5 premieres October 12th, 2014.

July 28, 2014 by Line Evensen Leave a Comment

The Austrian analogue photographer Krist Mort is releasing her new book ‘Inlumaeh’ 14th of August 2014.

Krist Mort Inlumaeh

The book contains 90 pages of color aswell as black and white photographs from 2011 to present. It comes with a special CD which Russian esoterist Lamia Vox exclusively recorded for this project, and is limited to 450 copies. The textured hardbound cover has a gold foil debossing and a matte varnish, and is designed by our fellow Norwegians Trine+Kim. Everything has been released by Cyclic Press – a new division of Cyclic Law, a Canadian Record Label.

Krist Mort Inlumaeh

Krist Mort tells us that the word ‘Inlumaeh’ relates to the connection and interaction of light and darkness.
– Where there is illumination a shadow is always cast and therefore all shadows originate in light. This kind of symbiosis is, what all of my images are about – the strange connection between two things so utterly different, yet they still relate to each other and cannot be without the other. Life and death, creation and destruction…

Maleficent merchandise – our top picks

June 26, 2014 by Line Evensen Leave a Comment

A while ago we wrote about the premiere of the new Disney movie Maleficent. When the movie unleashed there were also several spin off products and merchandise released to the public. Mac Cosmetics released a limited edition make up-set which has alot of uses besides making you look like Malificent herself. Mac says:

This limited-edition colour collection in specially designed packaging to delight the most demanding of dark sorceresses. Intensely admired for her evil elegance, despite her efforts to instill fear in the hearts of generations, this icon casts a spell of absolute adoration with sensuous shades so wickedly gorgeous, who needs beauty sleep?

The set contains all you need for the villanous look, and Mac even made us an tutorial. Also, you can check out another (video)tutorial on how to get the Maleficent look by using the set:

HSN also made an entire collection ranging from fashion to jewellery and home decor. Not too much interesting there, but these are my personal favourites:

The Entire Mystery – Twin Peaks to be released on blu ray

June 9, 2014 by Jan F. Lindsø Leave a Comment

On May 15, 2014, Entertainment Weekly released the news that all Twin Peaks fans had been waiting for:

There’s a new Twin Peaks box set coming out July 29, and it includes nearly 90 minutes of never-before-seen deleted and alternate scenes from the prequel film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me.

The release of the blu ray are definitely great news, but all the unseen material is really what makes this release worth checking out. Back in 2011, some fans created a Facebook petition for this material to be released, and now it seems like the prayers were finally heard.

Twin Peaks blu ray coming out July 29, 2014

For those of you who, in some bizarre kinda way, aren’t familiar with the series, Twin Peaks became a cult phenomena back in the early 90’s with a two season only series followed by a movie in 1992. David Lynch had managed to create a mysterious world that engage the viewers and in many ways changed the landscape of TV-series. You might probably have heard quotes like ‘Fire walk with me’, and ‘The owls are not what they seem’ – both from Twin Peaks. Actually, the series were really groundbreaking, and plowed way for other series like X-files and alike.

The complete series can be preordered from Amazon:

All about Maleficent – Evil is the new Black

May 30, 2014 by Line Evensen Leave a Comment

This post is all about Maleficent, the self proclaimed Mistress of All Evil which is now main character in an epic Disney movie premiering today, 30th of May 2014.

Is this the darkest Disney movie ever?

Is this the darkest Disney movie ever?

For those of you not familiar with Maleficent, she is the chief villain – the wicked and thirteenth fairy goodmother – in the 1959 movie Sleeping Beauty. When she as the only one of the fairy goodmothers not gets invited to the christening of Princess Aurora, Maleficent turn up only to give her gift: a spell which says Aurora will die at the age of 16 after pricking her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. Thanks to one of the other goodmothers, Aurora only falls asleep but can only be awakened by a kiss from her one true love.

maleficent

This is how most of us know her, from the original Sleeping Beauty movie from 1959.

Until now, we don’t know much about Maleficent and why she is the only goodmother not welcomed to Auroras christening. It seems Disney is about to reveal the full story of Maleficent and why she becomes wicked, dark, evil and have a raven named Diablo. Angelina Jolie is the perfect actress casted for portraying the Queen of Evil. We’ll come back to that later in this post. In one of the released teaser trailers (which gave us goose bumps!), Maleficent unfolds her epic presence in her own forest kingdom, when she comes home to sit on her lonesome throne. Check it out here (and you should, because both the music and the scenery is pretty darn Black Metal):

By now, you probably agree with us when we say we’re really stunned by the aesthetics of the movie and the movie art. Just look at these pictures:
